A thirty-nine-year-old, unemployed and homeless, was arrested in Elmas in the early hours of this morning. Already known to the police, he is seriously suspected of the crimes of attempted sexual assault, aggravated personal injury, threat and insult to a public official, as well as damage.

The Carabinieri intervened at dawn, following a call for help from the center of Elmas. The arrested man had spent the night with a thirty-eight-year-old woman and two other acquaintances: he was clearly in a state of psychophysical alteration, probably due to the combined intake of alcohol and cocaine, and allegedly insisted on having sex with the woman, who refused . A fight ensued, during which the victim was hit in the face with several punches.

The Carabinieri patrol immediately stopped the attacker and took him to the Sant'Avendrace barracks in Cagliari, to complete the formal procedures. There too, the arrested man maintained an aggressive attitude, hurling insults and threats at the Carabinieri and damaging a vending machine for food and drinks , repeatedly punching him. Only after a further containment intervention was he brought back to calm and made safe.

The thirty-nine-year-old is now in prison in Uta, at the disposal of the judicial authorities who will evaluate the measures to be taken against him. For the victim, the injuries were deemed curable in a few days .
