The Carabinieri of Cagliari intervened during the night, reporting a 46-year-old man from Elmas for the crime of illegal waste burning . The intervention was triggered by a report from the firefighters, who were engaged in extinguishing the fire.

When officers arrived, the man was busy burning a pile of plastic waste and brushwood . The dense fumes were causing significant disturbance to nearby homes, causing understandable concern among neighborhood residents.

The man, unemployed and already known to law enforcement, is not known to be involved in incidents of this nature before. Investigations conducted on the spot allowed the Carabinieri to determine that the incident was a case of repeated misconduct.
