Easter blow for those who have had to wait until the last few days to buy a plane ticket to return to Sardinia . Prices have skyrocketed, with rates reaching "stellar" levels, even higher than those of intercontinental flights, highlights Adiconsum Sardegna , which has monitored prices for connections from the main Italian airports to those in Sardinia.
Latecomers who only buy a ticket today with departure on Friday April, must take into account the following minimum costs, for a one-way trip: 361 euros for Bologna-Olbia, 325 from Verona to Cagliari, 298 from Parma to Cagliari, over 270 to leave for Cagliari from Venice, Brindisi or Bologna. Naples-Alghero starts from a minimum of 272 euros, 241 from Pisa to Alghero. To go to Olbia, however, the minimum cost is 265 euros from Trieste, 247 from Rome, 239 from Milan .
«Not counting the additional costs for luggage and seat selection and the cost of the return trip», explains the president of the association Giorgio Vargiu .
"Beyond the physiological increases," Vargiu denounces, "latecomers who only today buy a ticket to return to the island and spend the holidays with their families must submit to exorbitant prices, even higher than those of intercontinental flights ," considering that the direct Rome-New York flight on April 16 costs 320 euros. "A clear imbalance that, despite the many complaints filed with the Antitrust, persists and continues to weigh like a millstone on the travel of Italians during the holidays."
Adiconsum proposes a regulation that regulates the matter by preventing tariffs from being established by algorithms, because " it is not acceptable that the prices of consumer goods and services are calculated based on the degree of need and the needs of consumers ".
