An earthquake of magnitude 2.5 was recorded last night by seismographs of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) at sea , off the coast of Gallura .

The seismic event was detected around 10.28pm in the central Tyrrhenian Sea , 62 kilometres east of Olbia, with the epicentre located at a depth of 10 kilometres below the Earth's surface.

No damage or problems were recorded. The event is not unique: last summer, in the same area, a much stronger shock (magnitude 3.3) was recorded.
