The drought worsens and Abbanoa closes the taps in five other municipalities between Nuoro and Gallura.
The rains that have hit the island in recent weeks have not brought great benefits to water supplies.
The latest official data from the Basin Authority is from September 30: 1.5 million cubic meters of water out of 25 uncatchable, a figure almost halved compared to August 31 when there were 2.9 million cubic meters. According to Ansa, the latest rains have raised the bar by a few dozen millimeters and the usable resource has further halved, it is below the threshold of 800 thousand cubic meters.
For this reason, from today Abbanoa, by order of the permanent crisis table for the Posada situation, is forced to close the taps of citizens in Siniscola, Posada, Torpè, Budoni and San Teodoro.
In the past months, the restrictions affected the agricultural sector, now they will affect all citizens. It will start with the alternation of the supply of the supply for the duration of 24 hours and the closure of the network for the following 24. The goal is to save almost half a billion liters of water from the Maccheronis and cover the needs of the centers served for a longer period.
THE EMERGENCY PLAN
Tomorrow, Tuesday 22 October, first day of water closures in Posada, Budoni and San Teodoro. In Siniscola, due to works by the Land Reclamation Consortium, the first day of shutdown is brought forward to today, supply guaranteed on the 22nd and 23rd, then closures on alternate days on Thursday 24 October. The water closure maneuvers are carried out gradually by Abbanoa staff from 8 to 10 in the morning.
The emergency plan is constantly monitored, Abbanoa specifies, and in case of improvements due to the return of rains the measures will be remodulated.
