There is the nightmare of drought scaring northern Sardinia and Sulcis , where the lack of rain and empty reservoirs have plunged the territories into a water emergency. A situation that has not yet exploded in its dramatic nature, but which risks leading to a series of restrictions.

The filling, in fact, is one of the lowest in the last 25 years, with less than 906 million cubic meters of water compared to a capacity of 1824 million cubic meters: translated, less than half.

And in the meantime something is already moving, with the constraint of the resources present in the reservoirs through quotas from the institutional committee of the regional Basin Authority: those of the Temo-Cuga , with 3 million cubic meters to supply the water purification plants of Alghero Monte Agnese and Truncu Reale , the Monte Lerno reservoir, with half a million cubic meters reserved for the north-west, the area of the island in greatest difficulty, and that of Rio Leni , with 2.7 million cubic meters of water for the purification plant of Villacidro. Not only.

To supply the districts of the Southern Sardinia Reclamation Consortium, 32 million cubic meters are restricted in the Tirso reservoir at Cantoniera , while 500 thousand cubic meters of water from Punta Gennarta are for the drinking purposes of the city of Iglesias, in addition to the restriction on 8 and a half million cubic meters in the Cixerri reservoir in Genna Is Abis.

The table, urgently convened by the regional councilor for public works Pierluigi Saiu, was created with the aim of identifying a solution to the possibility that a large part of Sardinia remains without water.
