"If the strictly climatic crisis caused by the 2024 drought is behind us, the financial crisis of many agricultural businesses in the upper Baronia is instead worsening month after month. With a production season gone up in smoke, the situation of the rural world is reaching a worrying level of unsustainability".

Thus the mayor of Torpè Martino Sanna in a letter to the president of the Region Alessandra Todde and to the councilor for agriculture Gianfranco Satta.

"Under the current conditions, it is impossible to wait the usual three or four years of bureaucracy to receive aid. Many companies are already at risk of closing down," Sanna points out in the letter.

The mayor recalls how "agricultural businesses have invested significant resources to ensure a future for their families. This aspect could lead to depopulation of the area in question, causing serious damage to the social fabric. I hope that the sacrifice of these businesses has not been in vain, but that the Region will recognize, as soon as possible, the right compensation for the operators".
