The reconstruction
Before the crash, several reports had been received by 112 for that car which was travelling in the opposite direction on the Strada Statale 131- dir and then continuing, always in the wrong direction, on the Asse mediano from Sestu in the direction of Cagliari.
Police cars had left the Operations Room in an attempt to intercept the vehicle, while motorists who were driving in the correct direction, that is, from Cagliari towards Sestu, were terrified and trying to avoid it. After driving for almost 10 kilometers in the wrong direction, the Renault collided head-on at the height of via Berlino with a Renault Clio.
The crash was very violent, the drivers were extracted from the wreckage by the Fire Brigade and rescued by 118 personnel.
The Local Police of Cagliari took care of the surveys and traffic. Also on site were personnel from the State Police.
