"I'm not here to blame anyone, also because this is not my role; accidental events happen and among other things there is an ongoing investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office".

Speaking is the extraordinary commissioner of the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park, Rosanna Giudice, regarding the narrow escape from danger resulting from the sudden leak of diesel fuel from a tanker truck last August 9, upon disembarking from the ferry.

"An accidental event occurred that no one could have ever imagined," continued the Park Commissioner. "As far as I'm concerned, in the future we must move towards precautionary and preventive positions ; in my opinion, the protocol with the Region and with the competent authority for the transport of highly dangerous materials on the ferry should be reviewed, which - she said - should arrive in La Maddalena with a vehicle exclusively dedicated to such transport . The passage of civilian cars, even in limited numbers, and of people, should not exist."

According to the Commissioner of the National Park, the docking area for vehicles carrying dangerous goods should also be changed, moving it from the current one, "heavily anthropized, with hotels, offices, car passages and a parking lot" to another "that guarantees a limitation of the danger, for people, things and the environment".
