The Chiai dairy in Bari Sardo was a pioneer in the marketing of su casu agedu on the international scene. Today the company mourns the passing of Davide Chiai , who together with his brothers took over the reins from their father at the helm of the industrial complex.

He was 49 years old , the entrepreneur struck down by a sudden illness . A heart attack that left him with no escape, despite the medical staff, including those of the Areus helicopter, attempting to save him from death. He leaves behind his wife and four children , the youngest of whom was born a few months ago.

Davide Chiai was an open-minded entrepreneur. In the midst of the pandemic he participated in a solidarity competition to help needy people confined to their homes due to the lockdown. He distributed casu agedu, produced in his artisan company, to satisfy the hunger of the last . «There is a time to give one to receive. So far it has been the customers - he said at the time in an interview with L'Unione Sarda - who have made us grow professionally. Now it's our turn to meet the needs of those in difficult conditions. In this delicate moment, solidarity comes before profit ."

And so it was that a tub of casu agedu lit a smile on the faces of poor people, of family men overwhelmed by the crisis. « We donate grated cheese, trays of casu agedu and ricotta. It's providence. Now we are all one big family ." Davide Chiai was a well-known and respected person. The social certificates on his Facebook profile also demonstrate this.

Tomorrow Bari Sardo, his community with which he was in love, will accompany him on his last journey. The funeral will be celebrated at 3pm in the parish church.
