Anti-fraud operation in a toy store in Olbia.

In application of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Customs and Monopoly Agency, the Customs Office of Sassari and the Municipality of Olbia, the operators of the Annona and Commercial Police Unit of the Olbia Local Police Command and the customs officers of Sassari and the SOT of Olbia, have seized, for the first time in Italy, puppets and gadgets inspired by the Netflix series “Squid Game”.

In total 38 articles with a non-compliant CE marking. A report was then made to the Judicial Authority for commercial fraud and for the use of products with non-compliant signs. Further investigations are underway at the Sassari Customs Office for any violations of intellectual property rights.

Other toys are also targeted, without the CE marking and without identification labeling and the necessary warnings, in violation of the regulations on the safety of toys: a total of 78 pieces, including the famous “pop it” anti-stress for children.
There is a pecuniary administrative sanction for the operator ranging from a minimum of 1,500 to a maximum of 10 thousand euros.

"That between the Local Police of the Municipality of Olbia and the Customs and Monopoly Agency - commented the mayor Settimo Nizzi - is a truly fruitful collaboration and testifies to the constant attention paid to protecting consumers also in our territory, in ensuring that imported goods comply with the safety standards of the European Union, with particular attention to toys intended for children ".
