For the Italian justice there are no more doubts.
Alberto Cubeddu , the 27-year-old from Ozieri held responsible for the double murder of Stefano Masala and Gianluca Monni, killed on 7 and 8 May 2015 in Nule and Orune, is guilty.

The judges of the Supreme Court, after almost five hours in council chambers, confirmed the sentence to life imprisonment and therefore rejected the appeal presented by the defendants of the accused, the lawyers Mattia Doneddu and Patrizio Rovelli. The sentence of 3 July 2020, issued by the Court of Appeal of Sassari, is therefore valid for the Cassation, which, confirming the life imprisonment already inflicted in the first instance by the Court of Nuoro, did not believe in the repeated declaration of innocence of the young man.

According to the trial truth Cubeddu and his cousin Enrico Paolo Pinna - a minor at the time of the facts and already sentenced definitively to 20 years in prison - on the morning of 8 May 2015, in Orune, killed Gianluca Monni with three shots. while at the bus stop he was waiting for the bus to go to school.

The night before, on 7 May, they killed Stefano Masala, who was lured into a trap, in order to use his Opel Corsa and carry out the murder of Monni, making him suspect. Masala's body, amidst the desperation of the family, was never found. Two heinous crimes committed following a dispute that broke out in December 2014 in Orune, during the feast of Cortes Apertas, in which Pinna was offended and beaten.

"The sentence is correct because it conforms to the evidentiary findings but it will not restore Gianluca to the affection of his family and those who loved him", commented the lawyers of the Monni family, Antonello Cao, Rinaldo Lai, Margherita Baragliu, who with the Attorney Caterina Zoroddu, representing the Masala family, joined civil parties in the trial.
