The body recovered in the late morning of Monday by the firefighters of Cagliari and by the Port Authority in the waters between Foxi and Sant'Andrea is from the 40-year-old from Monserrato who disappeared in recent days.

The man, Andrea Pilia, probably fell into the water on the day of his disappearance. The carabinieri of the station and of the operative-radio-mobile unit of the Compagnia di via Milano also found the car with which the victim reached the coast: it was near the Bussola, just where (perhaps) the unemployed person could have ended up in the sea only to be unable to return to shore to save himself.

The currents may have dragged the body to the Flumini area, where it was later identified. Until that moment, despite the many bathers on the beaches, no one had noticed the body. The other hypothesis, less likely, is that Pilia walked the coast up to that point and then ended up in the sea and drowned.

Identification

The misfortune may have occurred on the same day the man left his home in Monserrato. Relatives had raised the alarm for the 40-year-old's disappearance and the body was seen at sea on Monday morning by a yachtsman, who called for help. The victim could have been betrayed by an illness and the tide could have done the rest, dragging the body away for hours.
