Challenge between Ita Airways and AeroItalia in the airports of Cagliari and Olbia - where Volotea is also in the running -, no offers for Alghero airport: the Region began this evening to examine the offers presented by the companies to manage territorial continuity aerial. And the fear expressed in recent days by some experts in the transport sector has proven to be well founded: the Riviera del Corallo airport remains without suitors for now, an emergency procedure will probably be necessary. Exactly like a year ago.
The big news of the tender is AeroItalia's interest in the Cagliari-Rome and Cagliari-Milan routes: it will have to deal with Ita Airways, which already manages these two connections. On the Olbia-Rome it will instead be a three-way race: in addition to Ita and AeroItalia, Volotea has also presented an offer. Only two (Ita and AeroItalia) for the Olbia-Milan route.
Now the Region will have to examine the economic offers. But in the background remains the possibility of an appeal to the TAR, after the problems encountered with the SardegnaCat platform which led to the reopening of the terms of the tender.
«A truly serious situation», comments the coordinator of the League in Sardinia, Michele Pais, «confirms the inadequacy of the European rules to guarantee the territorial continuity of Sardinia and the absolute fragility of Alghero airport, which cannot be abandoned to the rules of the free market".
