The unions Filcams Cgil and Fisascat are against the Conforama plan that includes the transfer of employees from the stores in San Sperate and Sassari. For the unions, these are "disguised layoffs, which would force mainly part-time workers to give up their jobs". The plan to reduce staff was announced by the company to the unions shortly before Ferragosto, immediately rejected in a letter signed by the regional secretaries Nella Milazzo and Giuseppe Atzori.
"The decision to implement a program of transfers from the sales outlets in Cagliari and Sassari to others scattered throughout the country and mainly located in Northern Italy, cannot be accepted because, in fact, it constitutes a way to induce the staff to abandon their jobs" , reads the letter from the two acronyms in which the state of agitation of the staff is also proclaimed.
A change in personal or family life that – Milazzo and Atzori denounce – is «impossible to face», also because it concerns «workers with incomes that are certainly not high and, moreover, in some cases part-time: they would be forced to give up, thus losing their job. And this would be configured as a disguised dismissal».
Conforama's top management was asked to revoke the decision and immediately restart a dialogue to find alternative and shared solutions. Otherwise, "other, much stronger, mobilization initiatives will follow."
