"The duties announced by Trump could have negative effects especially for the dairy sector. We are very concerned. Work is ongoing to mitigate their effects. We have signed an agreement with US farmers in which we ask the US government and the European Union not to introduce forms of tax penalties . We believe there is room to find reasonable solutions."
This was stated in Cagliari by the national president of Coldiretti Ettore Prandini who met the delegates of the agricultural organization who had come from all over Sardinia in the conference room of the Fair . Prandini, with the regional president Battista Cualbu and the director Luca Saba , took stock of the situation and identified the main emergencies of the sector. The issue of compensation for drought, an aspect repeatedly denounced by the farming world, was also at the center of attention.
"The resources to meet the payments have been allocated - Prandini underlined - but the bureaucratic times are too long. It is necessary to simplify as much as possible the process for the transfer of available funds. From this point of view, the regions can play a decisive role as happened in Sicily. In this case the Region has made essential resources available for agricultural businesses".
