«The Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli, having seen the name proposed unanimously by the Board of Directors of the Fondazione Teatro La Fenice in Venice, has signed the decree appointing Nicola Colabianchi as Superintendent of the Foundation itself» .
Now it's official: the era of the Marsican maestro's leadership of the Cagliari Lirico theatre, which began in March 2020, thus ends.
"The appointment of Maestro Colabianchi rewards the professionalism and passion of a great music expert with a high-level curriculum", declared Giuli, "and the fact that his name was proposed to me unanimously testifies to the shared appreciation towards the maestro. To him, my best wishes for a good job".
The M5S group leader in the Senate culture commission, Luca Pirondini, has a diametrically opposite view: « The nomination of Nicola Colabianchi as superintendent of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice is emblematic of the consideration that the right expresses with respect to culture and the integrity of Italian theatrical institutions».
It is very sad that "a figure like Colabianchi, whose career has been constantly favored by center-right administrations, is placed at the top of one of the most prestigious theaters in our country. His management at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari has been marked by scandals and judicial investigations. In May 2023, the Cagliari Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation into alleged non-transparent hiring and cases of absenteeism, in which Colabianchi himself is under investigation for abuse of office, fraud and forgery". Despite this, the mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro "has decided to propose him as the new superintendent of the Fenice. It is also known that during his mandate in Cagliari, Colabianchi has demonstrated a worrying absence from the city, often delegating his responsibilities and showing little interest in the local community".
