The drugs would have arrived on the island by boat or helicopter, thanks to the reckless skills of the Piacenza pilot Loris Sabatucci, a famous YouTuber who died on December 30, 2024 following an accident with an ultralight aircraft not far from Madrid. His exploits, at the helm of the famous Alouette or very expensive four-wheeled racing cars, had made him famous thanks to a series of videos published on the web. Yesterday morning, in Court, the trial that arose from the investigation by the Guardia di Finanza that began precisely following the arrest of Sabatucci, stopped on the island in 2017 after unloading 10 kilos of cocaine, was closed. Despite the various convictions, the charge of criminal association, contested by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, was dropped for the main defendants.

The sentence

Six defendants were sent to trial by Judge Michele Contini, one pleaded guilty, four were convicted and three were acquitted. This is how the preliminary hearing and the subsequent abbreviated trial ended, born from the accusation of drug trafficking advanced by the deputy prosecutor Guido Pani, head of the investigation that exploded with the arrest of the pilot from Piacenza. Massimo Littera was sentenced to the final sentence of seven years in prison, but in continuation of a previous sentence, while Gabriele Mascia will have to serve 5 years and 8 months in prison. Another five years, instead, were inflicted on Gianluca Columbu, while Fabio Corda will have to serve two years, 10 months and 20 days in prison. Fabio Angioni chose the path of plea bargaining: he will have to serve six additional months to a previous sentence of 6 years. Finally, the judge sent to trial Salvatore Inzitari, Stefano Bartoli, Claudio Cordeddu, Gennaro Infante, Marco d'Ariezo and Alessandro Moscaritoli. Some of the defendants were accused of complicity in drug trafficking, others of crimes not related to drugs but to alleged weapons or lighter crimes. Acquitted or acquitted, because the fact does not exist, Diego Pinna, Emanuele Fonti, Francesca Sedda and the Colombian German David Cerroni Ramirez.

The accusations

According to the reconstruction of the DDA, the group allegedly sold large quantities of cocaine on the island between 2016 and 2017. The defendants were represented by lawyers Marco Lisu, Riccardo Floris, Susanna Derio, Herika Dessì, Pierluigi Concas, Federica Atzeni, Emanuele Pisano and Desolina Farris. The drugs were allegedly sold in Cagliari, but also in Quartu and Galtellì, as well as in Selargius, Quartucciu, Maracalagonis and Monastir. The defense will now be able to appeal.
