Cemeteries, in Oristano the degradation is monumental
Carelessness also in the new wing and in the hamlets. The minority: "indecorous conditions"Among broken artifacts, abandoned rubble and uncultivated weeds, anything but eternal rest. If the city of the "living" does not shine for cleanliness and decorum, the one destined for the burial of the deceased fares no better. In Oristano and in the hamlets, visiting loved ones in the cemetery means not only facing the pain of loss, but also being faced with a mess of carelessness and disorder. The complaint is from the minority councilors who presented an interpellation to the mayor and the council on the matter. "The cemeteries of Oristano and its surroundings are in a state of neglect visible to all, reported several times by various municipal councilors and many citizens - says the first signatory Efisio Sanna, group leader of Oristano Più and former councilor for public works with responsibility for services cemeteries - even the most recent part of the Oristano cemetery, the one called San Paolo, is left in an indecorous condition».
The monumental wing
Brushwood on the perimeter walls, rusty racks and old abandoned signs welcome visitors externally. Inside, among the avenues left uncovered in several places by a thin layer of gravel, weeds grow. In the monumental wing the situation is dramatic. "The oldest part of the cemetery of San Pietro has characteristics and artifacts of great interest from a historical, artistic and architectural point of view that should be re-evaluated and deserve greater attention", recalls Sanna. «And instead uprooted tombs and heaps of rubble and depressions make the passage even dangerous. As a side dish, drinking fountains with reduced functionality and with an unthinkable aesthetic - add Francesca Marchi, Umberto Marcoli, Carla della Volpe (Oristano Più), Maria Obinu, Giuseppe Obinu, Massimiliano Daga (Pd) and Francesco Federico (Oristano Democratic and possible ) - old and dangerous stairs, barriers positioned urgently and still there after a very long time, dilapidated toilets and areas intended for burials in precarious conditions".
In fractions
The situation does not improve in Silì, Massama, Nuraxinieddu and Donigala. In the interpellation, the minority asked to know "who is responsible for the decorum, cleaning, maintenance and care of the greenery of the cemeteries, what services Oristano Servizi must guarantee, with how much personnel and with what costs for the Municipality".
"We need more workers"
The councilor for public works Simone Prevete does not deny the problem, specifying: «The vast extension of the cemetery garrisons would require a much higher employment of workforce than that currently in place. In past years, a policy of expansion of cemetery areas has been adopted which has inevitably subtracted resources from taking care of their decorum". The exponent of the executive adds that «to guarantee greater attention to the care and decorum of the cemetery areas, the Contract Execution Director has been appointed who will be responsible for verifying that the contract for the care of the green areas and the cemetery services, entrusted to the Oristano Servizi company, is scrupulously respected".
