A frightening bang and lightning strikes the bell tower of the co-cathedral of Sant'Antonio Abate, the church of Castelsardo , built in 1500 and already a parish church since the 13th century.

The bad weather of the past few days has destroyed the sound system of the bells, burning the entire electrical system . The lightning also detached a portion of the majolica dome, a damage to the main place of worship of the Doria city, dedicated to its patron saint.

"It is difficult to quantify the damage - says the parish priest Don Pietro Denicu - however I will ask the most sensitive parishioners for effective collaboration".

Built in Catalan Gothic style, in 1503 it became the seat of the "bishop's chair" of Ampurias and starting from 1597, at the behest of the then bishop Sanna, elements typical of Renaissance classicism were added. In 1622 it was consecrated by Bishop Passamar. Now it is necessary to quantify the structural damage and identify the resources needed to repair it.
