For 19 years he has been the point of reference for the inmates of the Badu 'e Carros prison in Nuoro, but also for their families and all the prison workers. Don Giampaolo Muresu, born in 1941, with 58 years of priesthood behind him, is about to leave his post .

« A great loss for everyone », says Maria Grazia Caligaris of the "Socialismo Diritti Riforme ODV" association who received the report from some family members of inmates of the Nuoro Institute who are very sorry for the imminent cessation of the Chaplain's service. Born in Cagliari, Don Muresu, who has been coordinator of the penitentiary chaplains of Sardinia for several years, grew up in the Ministry in Chile . Having left in 1969, he held the position of trainer in the Parish School with approximately 1,300 students. The Colonels' period had a profound impact on his life and after having curated a program on a private radio for 10 years, he had to interrupt his collaboration following the ferocious repression.

Having returned to Italy after 14 years, he deepened his studies in Moral Theology. Recalled to Chile, with the dispensation of the then Bishop of Nuoro Pietro Meloni, he returned to the South American country where he remained for another 9 years. Upon returning to Sardinia he took on the role of Chaplain in Badu 'e Carros where he met, among others, the Directors Gianfranco Pala, Paolo Sanna, Carla Ciavarella and Patrizia Incollu .

«Don Muresu - underlines Caligaris - carried out a particularly delicate task in an environment characterized by the presence of detained people with a high criminal profile without ever neglecting his mandate as a man of the Church, with a strong humanitarian matrix. For Socialism, Rights and Reforms he was an example of balance and a strong sense of civil duty. Best wishes go to him for a long and good life and heartfelt thanks for what he has given to society."
