Carbonia, the new roundabout on Via Costituente becomes safer

Since it opened, about two years ago, it has done nothing but record a series of accidents, especially at night, due to the lack of signaling devices combined with the negligence of motorists who approached the intersection at inappropriate speeds.

Now the situation has changed because the municipality has installed luminous road signs (the so-called cat's eyes) and a dedicated street lamp to illuminate the road.

"There should no longer be any visibility problems," explains Public Works Councilor Manolo Mureddu, "and consequently, safety problems when using it."

Accidents often occurred in the stretch from the school and hotel area towards Piazza Repubblica and several times the vehicles that hit the central part of the roundabout ended up crashing into the walls of the residential complex on the right and the home automation house immediately to the left.
