Testing of the new cycle-pedestrian bridge laid in recent weeks on state road 126 has been successfully completed. It connects the Great Mine of Serbariu and, on the other side of the road, the hills of mining barren, thus inaugurating a path that the Santa Barbara Historical Religious Mining Trail will use for cultural and tourist purposes.
The bridge was built by Portovesme srl as a form of environmental compensation for the clearance granted a few years ago to the raising of the landfill on the border between Carbonia and Gonnesa.
The bridge had been assembled a month ago and then assembled: " Static technical testing was needed - explains Deputy Mayor Michele Stivaletta - and this morning gave a largely positive result ".
The inauguration of the new iron bridge is expected in mid-July . It can be crossed on foot, on horseback and by bicycle .
