The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Unit of the Carbonia Company arrested a 30-year-old unemployed man from Sant'Antioco, already known to the police, for the crime of attempted aggravated theft.

The man was caught trying to force his way into a bakery located on Via Regina Margherita, damaging the front door in an attempt to get inside to commit the theft.

"The arrest - explains a note from the Arma - is the result of a series of extraordinary checks organized by the Carabinieri Company of Carbonia following a worrying increase in thefts to the detriment of local businesses. In the previous weeks, numerous merchants had reported episodes of break-ins and theft of goods and money, events that had generated concern among the owners of the town's businesses".

Precisely in response to the reports, the Carabinieri have implemented a territorial control service, intensifying night-time surveillance in the areas most affected by thefts.

The patrols of the Mobile Radio Unit, supported by the military of the Sant'Antioco Station, have guarded the most sensitive points with a series of mobile checkpoints and frequent passages in front of the commercial establishments at risk.

Thus, precisely, the 30-year-old was stopped and placed under house arrest, pending the validation hearing with a direct trial.
