They allegedly rented a car in the summer of five years ago, not returning it at the end of the agreed period. The vehicle was returned only after some time, but without – apparently – paying the difference of a few thousand euros claimed by the rental company. Those in trouble, accused of complicity in embezzlement, are Alessandro Pitzianti (58 years old) from Quartu and his singer friend Pago (registered as Pacifico Settembre, 53 years old), who will have to appear on February 27 before judge Federico Loche after the summons to trial signed by the public prosecutor Andrea Massidda.

The investigations

According to the findings of the Prosecutor's Office, the two friends allegedly took a Renault Captur from the SicilybyCar car rental at Elmas Airport on July 18, 2020. The contract was allegedly signed by Pitzianti as guarantor and first driver, while Pago was indicated as second driver. The car was then used to accompany Pago to some evenings around Sardinia. However, once the term indicated in the contract expired, the vehicle was not returned, thus triggering the complaint by the car rental company.

The process

Despite their different contractual positions, once the investigations were concluded, the deputy prosecutor Andrea Massidda deemed that both should answer for complicity in embezzlement. The trial was set for February 25, then postponed by two days and assigned to judge Loche. Alessandro Pitzianti is defended by the lawyer Domenico Alessandrini, while Pago is assisted by Monica Puggioni and Daniela Russo.

The defense

"Pago has nothing to do with it," emphasizes attorney Puggioni, "moreover, he has no contractual responsibility. After all, this seems to be a purely civil issue: it was simply necessary to charge a higher cost to the contractor, who is Pitzianti. Our client was simply accompanied to the various evenings he was supposed to attend. Moreover, the car was then returned by the person who had signed the contract, so it is not clear what the constitutive elements of the crime are." The matter will now be submitted to the judge.
