Firefighters performed a spectacular operation this morning, shortly after 6:30 a.m. , in the Murtineddu tunnel on the new state road 125, following a car fire, a Smart, which broke out right inside the tunnel.

For reasons still unclear, a vehicle caught fire just as it was passing through the tunnel, with the smoke causing more than one problem.

A team of firefighters from the Viale Marconi barracks quickly put out the flames and secured traffic along the 125.

After inspections were initiated to determine any further damage, the road remained closed for hours.
