Firefighters performed a spectacular rescue operation this morning, shortly after 6:30 a.m. , in the Murtineddu tunnel on the new state road 125, following a car fire that broke out inside the tunnel.

For reasons still unclear, a vehicle caught fire just as it was passing through the tunnel, with the smoke causing more than one problem.

A team of firefighters from the Viale Marconi barracks quickly put out the flames and secured traffic along the 125.

Checks have been started to verify any further damage.
