Some homes in the Maddalena Spiaggia area of Capoterra have been evacuated, where streets have been flooded by storm surges and heavy rain over the past few hours.

Civil Protection has removed some residents in particularly vulnerable conditions, including those with disabilities or who are bedridden.

«We are constantly present in the area», says Mayor Beniamino Garau, «we continue to monitor the evolution of the situation and to ensure the safety of our fellow citizens, in close coordination with all the operational structures».

Residents of coastal areas are advised to exercise extreme caution: "Stay indoors and, where possible, on upper floors. Avoid any unnecessary travel."
