Cagliari, work begins on the raised crossings in via Peretti
The Municipality's intervention after the tragic accidents that occurred on the pedestrian crossing near McDonald'sPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
The Municipality of Cagliari had made it known that the work on the raised pedestrian crossings in via Peretti would begin shortly . And so it was. It's a shame that the interventions, at dawn on the first day of construction, have already created traffic disruption with motorists queuing and the Brotzu roundabout blocked during rush hour.
The installation on the road surface, which forces vehicles to slow down, comes after two terrible accidents. The first, on January 8, in which Xuanming Guan, a 15-year-old student of Chinese origins but resident in Pirri, lost his life , mowed down by a car while crossing on the stripes near McDonald's. The second, which occurred in the same spot a few days ago, involved 42-year-old Giorgia Paravagna, who - having survived the accident - woke up yesterday from a coma .
More than necessary interventions were therefore those planned by the Municipality which however inevitably congested traffic, with vehicles queuing up from the intersection of via Tamburino Sardo with via Stamira, in Pirri. On the same stretch of road the speed limit will also be set at 30 km/h.
