As part of the second edition of the climate crisis literature festival "What Time Is the End of the World? Books and Ideas for Saving Yourself," promoted by the environmentalist association Rebelterra, phase one of the urban redevelopment project titled "Piazza Sa Barchixedda" began this morning, Sunday, November 16.

This is the second collateral event of the festival, held in the green area located between Via Monte Acuto and Via Val Venosta, in the Is Mirrionis neighborhood of Cagliari, currently in a state of absolute decay.

The ongoing redevelopment project includes a complete cleanup of the area, including waste removal, the creation of flowerbeds with plantings of trees and shrubs, and the restoration of the boat that has lain abandoned there for years and its transformation into an artistic planter.

"It's wonderful to see so many people together, united in pooling their efforts to improve their city. It shows there's a great deal of sensitivity and a strong desire to make a difference," explains Carola Farci, president of Rebelterra and promoter of the festival and initiative.

Thanks to the support of the municipal department of Urban Ecology,
The project, which includes a bench, waste bins, and plants to be planted, along with the soil to plant them, has been implemented in collaboration with Officine Verticali, ScoutCagliari Cngei – Associazione Scout Laica, and the invaluable creative contribution of the artist Marinetti, who repainted the boat. Thanks above all to the invaluable commitment of the volunteers, the area will be returned to the city completely transformed into a new small urban garden.
