The two new ambulances from the I Sardi Soccorso association, named Habiba Rami Muhammad Abu Shawish and Salvatore Mascia, will enter service in the next few hours on the roads of Cagliari and the province, operating as part of the 118 emergency system to provide assistance and save lives.

Habiba was born in Gaza, Palestine, in 2014. She was eleven years old when, on November 23, 2025, she died together with her entire family in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

Salvatore Mascia, on the other hand, is remembered as a good, generous, and humble man. Two different stories, united today by a symbolic gesture that transforms remembrance into a daily commitment.

The naming ceremony took place yesterday in Cagliari, at the association's headquarters at Viale Trieste 118. I Sardi Soccorso workers, in uniform, were present, and coordinator Marco Argiolas thanked them for their daily work serving the community.

A call to remember the tragedy that continues to affect the Palestinian population came from Fawzi Ismail, president of the Sardinia-Palestine Friendship Association.

Habiba's short life was marked by war and constant displacement. Her family had been forced to move at least five times after the bombing of the tower where they lived in the Ain Jalout Towers. They first found refuge in the Al-Bahisi family home in Deir al-Balah, then in the Al-Sawarha area, and finally in a temporary home in Camp 2. After repairing a house partially destroyed by previous bombings, new explosions struck the area, arriving—as one recalled—"faster than the rain."

Despite everything, Habiba continued to attend school part-time. She loved drawing, reciting poetry, and dedicating herself to art. She dreamed of becoming a dentist and only wished the war would end so she could have a room of her own to store her toys. Yesterday's ceremony was introduced by Monica Zuncheddu.
