The shared scooter service starts today in Cagliari , the Municipality has entrusted it to Dott, an international operator present in several Italian and European cities.
250 electric scooters and as many dedicated spaces are available to citizens and tourists. The service is organized in "one way" mode, users can pick up and return the vehicles in one of the dedicated spaces, located along the main streets and strategic squares of the city, identified by the company in collaboration with the municipal administration.
"We are at the forefront of promoting and incentivizing sustainable mobility, the launch of the new service goes in this direction and allows many people to travel without using the car, with a non-polluting and lightweight vehicle ", underlines the mayor Massimo Zedda .
The concession of the service to Dott lasts three years, the company is the first international micromobility operator to invest directly in the Sardinian capital.
Vittorio Gattari, director of institutional relations of Dott : «This investment strengthens our commitment to contributing to the development and sustainable mobility of Sardinia. We are already present in the nearby Municipality of Quartu Sant'Elena and we plan further investments in the region ».
The 250 spaces where you can pick up and return the scooters are visible via the Dott app. Once you have used the vehicle, you are asked to take a photo after parking. The scooters, the company emphasizes, "can be used in maximum safety: there are direction indicators, always-on lights, front, rear and electronic brakes , suspensions and larger wheels for stable driving, as well as a smartphone holder to facilitate the safe use of the app."
Each scooter has a geolocation system to prevent the rental from ending in unauthorized areas. It is also possible to automatically adjust the maximum speed, up to 20 km per hour.
The service can only be used by adults. The rules of use include the obligation to use cycle paths, avoid sidewalks and park correctly .
