The Orto dei Cappuccini , a green pearl in the heart of Cagliari , inaugurates and gives citizens its new spaces.
The areas have been made accessible for the first time and enrich the much-loved urban park . Among the novelties, a large raised area of about 400 square meters comes to life from a dirt road – on which a walkable turf has been laid – positioned at the base of the northern rocky ridge which will be fully usable in the coming months. Illuminated by low energy consumption LED lamps, it is surrounded by aromatic herbs and fruit trees.
«In the Garden – comments the mayor Paolo Truzzu – there are traces of the city's past, archaeological finds dating back to Roman times, much appreciated spaces for sharing and entertainment and seasonal vegetable gardens available to the community ». «First of all - adds the deputy mayor and Councilor for Public Greens Giorgio Angius - the safety of the northern rocky part. Moving towards the slope overlooking the Garden in a southerly direction, the recovery of the first part of the stone walls has been completed: this will allow, through further works, to extend the surface of this green jewel».
The intention is to " further expand the park , creating a single system communicating with Viale Sant'Ignazio where the gardens of the legal-economic university pole are located, the Roman Amphitheater and the Botanical Gardens ", concludes Truzzu.
