He mainly targeted elderly women: he approached and violently snatched gold chains and other valuables. Now he has been identified: the police have arrested a forty-year-old Brazilian believed to be responsible for at least four robberies, "consummated in a particularly violent manner" in Cagliari between May 19 and 28, against elderly women.

The investigations of the Mobile Squad, in collaboration with the Flying Squad officers, were conducted through observation and shadowing services, also making use of the analysis of video surveillance systems. The checks were also extended to “Compro oro” shops: here part of the stolen goods was seized.

The investigations, the Police Headquarters reported, "began following the repetition, within the city, of serial robberies attributable to a single individual, described as having common physical characteristics and usually acting according to a precise modus operandi based on violence".

Yesterday, through a joint operation between the Flying Squad and the Flying Squad, the forty-year-old was tracked down inside an illegally occupied home. During the search, further evidence was found, such as the clothes worn during the robberies and other valuable objects attributable to other crimes yet to be ascertained. Even though the restrictive measure concerns four episodes, the suspect is seriously suspected of being involved in at least six other similar events that will be the subject of further investigative investigations.

He is also said to be the perpetrator of the robbery that took place in via della Pineta in those days : the victim, a sixty-one year old, had launched an appeal because the image of her daughter, whom she cared about a lot, had also been stolen with the chain.

The Brazilian is now in Uta.
