Nearly 4,800 bags of pellets of 15 kg each, for a total weight of 71.5 tons, were seized at the Port of Cagliari by the officials of the Cagliari Customs Office, in tandem with the soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza.

They were stowed inside 5 containers from Egypt , ready to be put up for sale on the national territory.

The seizure was triggered because - following checks and analyzes - the cargo was found to be non-compliant both as regards the A1 commercial labeling and for the ash and nitrogen content, higher than those allowed.

Not only that: the labeling carried “false” indications, passing off low quality material as very high quality goods, with the intent of deceiving final consumers.

Customs officials and the Fiamme Gialle have also triggered measures against the importing company, with offices in Milan and Selargius, whose legal representative has been denounced.

The seized pellets will be destroyed in the incinerator.

Another large seizure of non-compliant pellets destined for the Italian market was carried out by the Finance in early October , on board a ship that arrived at the Port of Cagliari.
