Maxi-seizure of low quality pellets, but sold instead as very high quality, in the Porto Canale of Cagliari.

This is a total of 81 tons of combustible material, intended for domestic use, which in the coming months would have been placed on the market in various locations in Sardinia and also in the rest of Italy.

The cargo was discovered during a check by officials of the Customs Office and by soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza in three containers arrived from Morocco.

The inspectors took some samples and subjected them to analysis and the result was a presence of ash equal to 1.4%, against a set limit of 0.8%.

«The relevant transport document - explains a note - however reported the indication "Pellet EN-plus A1" (i.e. high quality pellets, ed), a circumstance which would have allowed the marketing of a product that was deceptively better in terms of quality than to its actual chemical composition. Furthermore, the specific presence of a particular type of ash could have resulted in potential damage to the heating systems, reducing their energy power».

After the seizure , the legal representative of the importing company was reported to the Judicial Authority of Cagliari with the accusation of having introduced into the State an industrial product bearing false signs, designed to mislead the buyer as to the quality of the fuel.
