Minority languages are not just words: they are identity, resistance and culture. And to celebrate them , the third edition of the Ondras Prize returns, an international recognition that shines a spotlight on activists committed to safeguarding this precious European heritage .

On Saturday 26 October, in Cagliari, the stage will be all for those who have been able to give voice to these languages, often forgotten, but alive and vibrant more than ever. The award ceremony , followed by a musical moment, will take place at the Manifattura Tabacchi in Cagliari, at 6 pm.

The Ondras Award, conceived by Crei Acli and Fondazione di Sardegna, will also this year reward personalities and communities who have distinguished themselves for their commitment. Among the winners of the 2024 edition, we find illustrious names such as Castillo Suarez Garcia, a scholar of the Basque language, Pantaleone Danilo Brancati, an expert in Calabrian Greek, and Franco Siddi, a journalist who has given space to Sardinian on Rai channels. But the real surprise is the community of Orgosolo, an example of linguistic and cultural resistance.

The regional president of the Acli, Mauro Carta, does not hide his satisfaction for the goal achieved: «Giving continuity to the Ondras Award was not easy, but it is an important signal. Minority languages are an integral part of our identity and, thanks to this award, the Acli contribute to the promotion of multilingualism and the valorization of European cultural diversity».
