An argument that started for trivial reasons outside a pub turned into an attempted murder last night in Cagliari. A 19-year-old, already known to the police, was arrested on charges of attempted murder after hitting a man with his car and trying to escape.

The incident occurred around 4:30 in the morning in via Mameli, one of the areas of Cagliari's nightlife. According to the reconstruction by the Carabinieri, the boy, at the height of the argument that broke out outside a nightclub, allegedly deliberately ran over, while driving a rented Ford Puma, a thirty-three-year-old resident of Monserrato. After the collision, the young man fled, while the victim remained on the ground seriously injured.

Some witnesses present described the scene as an intentional and sudden gesture. The 118 health personnel intervened immediately, transporting the injured man urgently to the Brotzu hospital, where he is currently hospitalized with a reserved prognosis. Fortunately, his life is not in danger.

The search for the attacker began immediately, and the police managed to track down the young man within a few hours thanks to the collaboration between the Carabinieri and the police. The nineteen-year-old was stopped and taken to the barracks for investigation.

The investigators, on the basis of the testimonies collected and the first evidence acquired, have outlined a solid circumstantial framework against him. For this reason, he was formally arrested on charges of attempted murder and transferred to the prison of Uta, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.

The investigations continue to clarify further details of the incident and verify the possible presence of aggravating circumstances.
