Water is the special observation in the investigation into the causes of the settlements, increasingly evident and dangerous, which risk causing the collapse of some buildings between via Dettori and piazza Aramu , in the Marina district in Cagliari . And it's not just a way of saying: a specialized company, commissioned by a condominium involved, sent a Rov underground - a sort of underwater drone with a video camera - which filmed a small underground river and, upstream, a broken pipeline with a big loss.

Has that flow dug up to undermine the foundations of the buildings across the street, causing cracks to open on walls and facades that have increased in thickness and number with the passing of the hours? Certainly the water played a role.

ABBANOA. During the inspection, Abbanoa's technicians were also present. And from the water service management company they let it be known that the broken pipe is, it is true, the leak as well. "But they are the consequence and not the cause of the failure". Therefore, for those in charge of the water spa, the causes must be sought elsewhere. It remains to be understood when that pipeline broke down. And if there is a monitoring of the difference between the liquid introduced into the network and consumption: from there the flow rate of the leak could be calculated. In a system which, by admission of the Region itself, disperses 138 million cubic meters out of the 250 supplied into the ground throughout Sardinia.

THE LITIGATION. The first clearing dates back to Friday night, when the first fissures appeared. Three rooms were closed and thirteen people were forced to spend the night away from homes at risk. As the hours passed, and then the days, the further inspections revealed the extent of the damage, which involved all the buildings in via Dettori, starting from piazza Savoia, and also the last one on the corner with piazza Aramu , next to McDonald's. Everything cordoned off, with firefighters and municipal civil protection at work. This morning further cracks appeared on the facades, while some activities on the ground floor remained closed: it was impossible to open the gates, the openings were deformed. There are closed public places and homeless residents. The Municipality, according to what transpires, should bear the first costs for the safety. The modalities have yet to be established. Abbanoa is already called out. Those who know the neighborhood claim that in that area there are, or were until not too long ago, entire buildings not connected to sewers. How it will end is difficult to predict. But a dispute over important figures seems imminent. And no one dares to talk about times.
