It is a problem that will continue for a while longer , at least until the fault that has suddenly blocked the crematorium in the San Michele cemetery in Cagliari is resolved ("soon", they assure).

Result: today there were 9 coffins placed in the refrigerated room of the Cagliari cemetery, 4 destined for burial and 5 for cremation. Without the Cagliari system, funeral homes are forced to take the bodies to Sassari and Olbia, with inevitable waiting times for cremation.

Just to get an idea, funeral companies say, if it normally takes two or three days for a cremation in Cagliari, at the moment you have to take into account about seven.

If we then add the danger that the crematorium in Olbia could also stop shortly (for maintenance), it is clear that the danger is around the corner. The councilor of Cagliari with responsibility for cemetery services Marina Adamo explains that «there is no problem. Everything is linked to the cremation system which at the moment in Cagliari is blocked by a failure in the system which, we have been told, will be repaired very soon. Among the coffins inside the hall of the cemetery of San Michele this afternoon, four are awaiting burial», a procedure that works very well and which is carried out within 24 hours at the latest, «and in any case it must be considered that a cremation it takes away a few more days than a burial».
