The Municipality of Cagliari acquires shares of Parkar, born under the control of CTM, transforms it into an in-house company and entrusts it with the management of paid parking in the city for five years.
The decision was made in recent days by the Board led by Massimo Zedda, with the green light to a five-year contract that, according to estimates, is worth approximately 2.5 million euros gross per year (all things considered, approximately 13.2 million for the entire period).
What changes for motorists? The determination of tariffs, it is stated in the contract, «for the entire period of assignment is up to the municipal administration» as well as «the definition of the tariff structure, the tariff levels and the methods of updating and changing them. The tariffs must be approved by the administration», it is underlined, «which will have the power to establish them also in increase».
The collection will be carried out by Parkar, which will also collect the proceeds. «Currently», it is specified, «the rates in force in the municipal territory were approved with a resolution of 2023, and will be applied to this assignment for the entire contractual period without any provision for variation: any changes to the rates are the exclusive responsibility of the municipal administration, in the logic of analogous control over its own “in house” company». In short, no increases are foreseen. But they cannot be excluded.
