The stalls are reserved for ambulances , complete with signs and yellow lines to delimit them. But in via dei Pisani, in the Marina district of Cagliari , in those parking areas that should be used by emergency vehicles , private cars park , often not even belonging to residents in the restricted traffic area, at all hours of the day and night.
After phone calls, informal and official reports through certified e-mail, the president of the I Sardi Socco association, Oretta Mascia , addressed the mayor Paolo Truzzu directly. "There are no alternatives left," explains the number one of the 118 rescue team affiliated with the regional health system. «Unfortunately», he underlines, «every day and every night the drivers of our ambulances are forced to leave their vehicles outside the reserved spaces , when they find a parking space, because those are occupied by uncivilized people who disregard the rules of the traffic code. road and those of common sense".
There are vertical and horizontal signs. «But the sign», adds Mascia, « does not provide for the possibility of removal . So when the local police officers arrive, as long as they are not busy with other interventions, especially at night, they can't do anything other than fill out a report to leave on the windshield, but the cars remain in place ." So: there is the fine but the problem remains, ambulances cannot park. When they manage to get to the station: «It didn't happen just once: on the journey through the narrow streets of the neighborhood it is often impossible to turn because there are vehicles left prohibited from parking close to the curves. And the ambulance gets stuck . And even there", says Mascia dejectedly, "we find ourselves calling the Municipality waiting for someone to intervene".
The reports to the municipal offices, say I Sardi Socco, have been constant and continuous. «But unfortunately the solution has not arrived. I turn to the mayor, because here we are talking about ambulances that must be ready to leave to save lives: a sign requiring their removal is necessary .
