The terrible discovery was made by a Bosnian citizen: the tomb of a loved one, in the cemetery of San Michele in Cagliari, was desecrated. From there the alarm was raised among other compatriots and the confirmation of at least three other tombs opened by someone in recent days, probably at night, to steal gold and precious items that the Roma leave inside the coffin as a sign of closeness to their families. The police were immediately notified and the police patrols intervened, followed by the experts from the Scientific Police for the surveys.
So yesterday evening, until after 9:30 p.m., in the square of the Cagliari cemetery there were about a hundred Roma citizens, who have been in Sardinia for many years, worried about these sacrilegious thefts: the desecrated tombs are in fact far from each other. A sign that someone wanted to commit the thefts knowing which tombs to open . "Even a year ago there was an unsuccessful episode", is the complaint of some of them, "and since then nothing has been done. The cameras were not installed and now we fear that these thefts could happen again. We are also asking for the mayor to intervene". Today too, checks will be carried out on other tombs.
The thieves' work was precise and certainly not short: in addition to removing the marble slab, the cement was broken and the tombs were opened, damaging them. All this without anyone, including the cemetery staff, noticing anything. Until yesterday evening. And today the families who were victims of this painful theft because it touches their dearest affections will show up to formalize the complaints at the police station . In the meantime, the investigations have already begun.
