From today Cagliari has a new green area , in via Berna , in Genneruxi . The space, now open to the public after the redevelopment works , extends over approximately 1200 square metres . The intervention saw the creation of two areas : the first, a fenced garden of approximately 850 square meters, with games for children, a fitness area and a relaxation area where new trees were planted. The second, however, is an open space of approximately 350 square meters with benches and new shrubs. The interventions are included in the recovery and enhancement works of degraded green areas (27 in the city), financed with PON Metro React-EU funds .

For the mayor of Cagliari Paolo Truzzu «the new spaces in via Berna make areas available for families and all residents of the populous Genneruxi neighborhood for children's play and physical activity, with dedicated furnishings and equipment. As happened in many other neighborhoods of the city, this intervention supports and strengthens the spaces that the administration has recently restored or opened in the neighborhood: think of the redevelopment of the play area in Piazza Iceland and the opening of the garden in Via Bruxelles" . The work just completed «sees a large lawn area on which children's games are installed, protected by anti-trauma flooring, while in the fitness area there is a multi-purpose tool that rests on anti-trauma flooring – adds the vice mayor and councilor for public green spaces Giorgio Angius –. Inside the garden, now equipped with an irrigation system, numerous seating areas and a small fountain have been positioned and jacarandas and albizias have been planted, as well as numerous specimens of shrubs. In the small adjacent area owned by the municipality, some seats were positioned and shrubs and essences were planted."

The president of the city council Edoardo Tocco underlined that with this intervention «the Administration's program of valorization of the city greenery continues, to allow the entire population to be able to frequent the play areas, the fitness areas and the dog areas. The new area open today to the public in via Berna further enriches the offer of recreational and sporting spaces in Genneruxi, in the wake of other previous interventions".
