Cagliari, a large tree falls: Via Dante closed and traffic in chaos

Traffic disruption in the center of Cagliari due to the collapse of a tree on Via Dante. The collapse, of a jacaranda tree in the central reservation, occurred mid-morning and the firefighters, local police officers and civil protection intervened. To allow the road to be cleared, the two lanes of Via Dante, in the stretch arriving from Piazza Repubblica, were closed to traffic. The green teams of the Municipality are also at work.

The consequences on traffic in the area already in difficulty due to the presence of construction sites for the construction of the light metro line are heavy. The CTM connections have also undergone changes.

This is the communication from the transport company: "Direction Matteotti: buses coming from Quartu, once they reach the roundabout on Via San Benedetto, turn onto Via Paoli and Via Alghero, from where they resume their regular route. Direction Quartu: buses departing from Piazza Matteotti, once they reach Piazza Repubblica, turn left onto Via Alghero, Via Sonnino and Via Paoli, from where they resume their regular route".

There was no damage to people or property. The landscaping contractor will replace the plant when the appropriate season comes.
