He fought for eighteen days but finally gave up: the injuries sustained in the crash against the median Axis traffic island aboard a Smart were too serious.
Nicola Colombu, 19 years old from Is Mirrionis, died at the Brotzu hospital.
He had been hospitalized since January 14, the day of the terrible accident .
In the crash, his friend, Simone Picci , was injured in a minor way: he had escaped with thirty days of treatment.

According to the first reconstruction, the Smart had done everything by itself: after the skid, it crashed into the guardrail and then ended its run shortly after the junction for the via Cadello roundabout. Colombu had flown out of the car, suffering very serious injuries. Transferred to intensive care without regaining consciousness. The 19-year-old's family and friends had prayed and hoped.
