A patrol boat from the Port Authority of Oristano and a sailing boat monitoring the crystalline sea of Sinis: in the background the archaeological area of Tharros. A shot from above taken with a drone by Santa Giusta photographer Marcello Mangroni, 48 years old.

A breathtaking image representing the month of December in the prestigious 2024 Coast Guard calendar, presented in recent days in Venice. A year in twelve shots carefully selected by a jury of experts. Images which, as was said during the ceremony, testify to the constant commitment of the Port Authorities in the 300 maritime offices present along the 8 thousand kilometers of Italian coast and tell the daily work of 11 thousand women and men of the Corps.

Each photographer had to describe their territory but above all capture the work of the Coast Guard in that precise context. It will be important publicity for the Sinis coast. The calendar pages are in fact also enriched by a description. Photographer Marcello Mangroni talks about his experience: «I took the photo last June. It was the Oristano harbor office that had asked me for several shots in Sinis to immortalize their work at sea. However, surprisingly a few days ago I was contacted by the General Command. At that point I discovered that my photo had been selected for the calendar. A strong emotion. An honor for me to be part of this important project."

Federico Pucci, commander of the Captaincy of Oristano: «Tharros was chosen, in particular, for its peculiarity and natural beauty with the aim of describing the territory and enhancing the work of the Coast Guard». Also representing the island in the month of August is the protected marine area of Tavolara-Punta Coda Cavallo. Then Puglia, Calabria, Liguria, Tuscany, Veneto, Campania, Sicily, Lazio and Emilia Romagna.

The Coast Guard has donated the proceeds from the sale of the calendar to Unicef, estimated at over 50 thousand euros, with the aim of supporting projects in favor of the children of Afghanistan. The presentation of the calendar was attended by the Vice President of the Council and Minister of Infrastructure, Matteo Salvini, who in his greeting thanked the Coast Guard personnel.
