Battista Manis, the 52-year-old entrepreneur believed by the Prosecutor's Office to be responsible for the death of his fellow countryman Claudio Manca, was not alone in the car .

And, according to a highly confidential investigation, he wasn't even behind the wheel of his wife's gray Golf. These are some of the aspects investigators are focusing on as they continue their investigation, pending Saturday's on-site inspection.

Prosecutor Marco De Crescenzo is accusing the tobacconist's owner of voluntary manslaughter: Manis allegedly deliberately hit Manca with his car, then got out and beat him, causing his death. Manis, as he himself stated in videos posted on social media, holds the 49-year-old responsible for the fire in his villa. Investigators are examining numerous elements, having interviewed numerous people in the 52-year-old's family and friends.

Specifically, it appears that Manis wasn't driving the car, but, upon seeing Manca on his bike, he somehow managed to swerve the steering wheel, hitting him. He then got out and beat his rival, leaving him lifeless in the canal.

The investigation continues.
