Fire alarm in Arborea, inside the Masangionis waste collection center .

Triggering the fire - which the 115 teams managed to tame by limiting the damage - would have been a gas cylinder, given incorrectly and ended up where it was not supposed to be.

This is confirmed by a note from the provincial industrial consortium of Oristano, which reads: "Today morning, around 8, an operator identified a sudden flame in the heap of bulky waste that he was handling with a mechanical vehicle inside the shed that it houses the line of dry residue and bulky items.

The blaze, presumably caused by a cylinder containing gas, did not cause damage to people or vehicles, but started a fire that quickly affected the waste heap. The immediate intervention of the Fire Brigade of Oristano and Ales made it possible to limit and tame the fire, preventing it from spreading to the entire shed and to the other waste processing lines ".

“The area has therefore been made safe, and any damage to the structures will be assessed as soon as possible.

In consideration of the limited extent of the event, it is believed that there was no damage to the environment ”, concludes the Consortium.

For the president Nando Faedda "this event highlighted the proper functioning of the prevention measures present in the plant and confirms the great professionalism of the fire brigade staff, while the negligence of those who, in a totally irresponsible way, get rid of waste causes great disappointment. dangerous by throwing them in an inappropriate way in an unsuitable collection circuit, putting at risk the safety of workers, plant structures and the environment ".
