Urgent medical transport from Elmas airport to Ciampino airport for a 20-day-old newborn in imminent life threatening, burned and tested positive for Covid.

Given the gravity of the situation, the doctors of the "Duilio Casula" Hospital of Monserrato alerted the Prefecture of Cagliari to activate the emergency transport to the "Bambino Gesù" Pediatric Hospital in Rome.

An ambulance was boarded on the aircraft, a C-130J of the 46th Air Brigade of the Italian Air Force, carrying the newborn baby inside the thermal cradle, a family member and a medical team.

The particular "negative pressure" ambulance helped to prevent the risk of contagion and to allow compliance with the procedures and precautionary measures connected to the Covid-19 health emergency. Once the military aircraft landed in Ciampino, the little patient was immediately transported by ambulance to the "Bambino Gesù" Hospital in the capital.

The request for emergency medical transport was immediately transmitted by the Prefecture to the Summit Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, which immediately started all the procedures necessary for the activation of the military crew.
