Burcei, water emergency: severe disruptions continue in the town

The scorching heat, the water that doesn't reach or flows dripping from the taps, especially in the higher-lying neighborhoods. In Burcei, the water supply problem is far from resolved . Even an emergency well, restored a month ago, is almost dry: initially it provided eight liters of water per second, now only half a liter.
Abbanoa mentions about twenty wells recently dug by private individuals that have lowered the water table. Deputy Mayor Ignazio Monni responds by saying that people need water every day. People have been living in dire straits for some time. There's water, from the Corongiu aqueduct. The problem is the supply network, which continually bursts. Abbanoa is committed, but the problem remains unsolved, and the population suffers the consequences.
Just twenty days ago, at a public meeting held in the town, everything seemed resolved with the announcement of new work to fix the network that carries water from the Corongiu aqueduct to Burcei and with the use of water from two wells for emergencies .
The situation, at least in the upper reaches of the town, remains critical, with the City Council having called the Prefecture for a meeting attended by Abbanoa. The working group was chaired by Deputy Prefect Maria Antonietta Gregorio. Representing the Municipality of Burcei were Deputy Mayor Ignazio Monni, Councilors Maria Clotilde Scalas, Jonata Mucelli, Mauro Serra, and Technical Officer Dino Serra; representing Abbanoa were President of the Board of Directors Giuseppe Sardu and Head of the Distribution Sector's "Networks" Operational Unit Gianluca Panduccio; and representing the Sardinian Regional Government Authority, General Manager Maurizio Meloni.
The Municipality of Burcei is supplied by a steel pipeline approximately 9 kilometers long, running from the Corongiu water treatment plant, in the Sinnai area, to the municipal reservoir, which serves the entire town's water supply network. To overcome a total elevation difference of 450 meters, two water lifts are installed. In the last two
Over the past few months, the bursts have intensified, especially along a stretch of approximately 3 kilometers that is particularly subject to high pressure. Abbanoa's numerous repairs have been made particularly complex by the orographic difficulties of the area crossed by the pipeline . The recurring bursts have jeopardized, for some time, the restoration of the municipal reservoir's levels: as a result, there have been lengthy interruptions to the water supply to users, particularly in the upper part of the town.As an emergency measure, Abbanoa, in agreement with the Municipality, has connected a well on Via Nuova to compensate for interruptions to the Corongiu aqueduct due to sudden breaks, but also to ensure an alternative supply source during the renovation of the supply pipeline, which will necessarily have to be put on standby. The Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Burcei, Ignazio Monni, acknowledged Abbanoa's commitment and collaboration in addressing the long-term emergency. He emphasized, however, that the situation is once again critical, especially in the upper part of the town, where pressure drops and interruptions have resumed throughout the day and part of the night. He therefore requested specific commitments and timelines for a definitive resolution of the town's water supply problems.
Abbanoa announced that the most critical section, approximately 3 kilometers long, is currently being finalized using the "Hose Lining" technique, which involves the rehabilitation of pressurized pipelines using a self-supporting, flexible, reinforced pipe: the only viable solution for high pressures such as those in question. President Sardu has pledged to begin construction by September and complete it by the end of this year.
